As an archaeologist, I often find myself exploring ancient sites, but this Christmas, I was lucky enough to trade dusty ruins for the sun-kissed shores of Contadora Island, and Hotel Contadora was the perfect home base. The welcome drink was the perfect touch after a long journey, and being just a three-minute walk from the beach made it easy to unwind and soak in the stunning views with my travel companions. The small, family-owned vibe of the hotel added a personal touch, and it was great to relax in our air-conditioned rooms featuring flat-screen TVs and reliable WiFi, which I appreciated for keeping in touch with friends back in London. After long days of exploring, the on-site restaurant became our go-to for delicious meals, and the bar was an ideal spot to quench our thirst with refreshing drinks while discussing the day's adventures. The location couldn't be better-central to local businesses and right next to the airstrip-making it a breeze to navigate the island. Hotel Contadora provided not just convenience but a truly charming experience that mirrored the warmth of the island itself. I can't wait to return!
